about

Luca has been writing and performing music since the sixth grade, when he formed a band called Füss with a friend. Now 16, he started this project a little over a year ago, when he had the idea to create a record by marrying music he had been composing at the piano with several poems he had written. Over time he would refine and develop these sketches into full-fledged songs, and string these songs together with instrumental interludes. The result is an engrossing, strikingly original listening experience that owes about as much to Radiohead's In Rainbows as it does to David Bowie’s Low. Pillars, which features Luca singing and playing piano and keyboards, embodies a style influenced by rock, jazz, and classical music alike.

lyrics

The skeptics pass the lonely preacher in a tunnel underground
It’s an image from the cover of a playbill that you found
On 17th street where the streetlights wander dimly all around
The trashed pages of our Autumn

You’ve read it through a hundred times and hung it up behind the door
Now you’re through with the rehearsal and you covet something more,
A resolution and an audience to savor the rapport
The trashed pages of our Autumn

He shouts with Spanish undertones, he means to be remembered
His face is torn between his words and trust in God dismembered
He tells me that the Gospel holds the answers to my queries if I care
To look beyond the biting air of late November — he calls your name

And you’re caught up in the morning that has since passed into fame
And you’re locked inside the memory of singleness and shame
But remember that cold tunnel dripping with forgotten rain
And the trashed pages of our Autumn
